Signers' Hall Exhibit Tour

Come face-to-face with life-size statues of the 42 men who gathered in Philadelphia for the signing of the Constitution on. Explore the events that led up to the Constitutional Convention and the debates and compromises that ultimately formed the U.S. Constitution. We spotlight several famous figures include George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and others, sharing facts about the men themselves and the creation of this unique exhibit.

Follow the course of history through the American Revolution, the Constitutional Convention, and the drafting of the Bill of Rights. See how a young nation took shape, and explore how guiding principles like natural rights, popular sovereignty, and the rule of law defined the American experience for generations to come.

Civil War and Reconstruction Exhibit Tour

Learn how constitutional clashes over slavery set the stage for the Civil War and explore how the nation transformed the Constitution during the Reconstruction period, taking a particularly close look at the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. Discover the stories of key figures including Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and others, and get an up-close look at rare artifacts.

The 19th Amendment Exhibit Tour

Trace the triumphs and struggles that led to the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Gain a better understanding of the long fight for women’s suffrage and learn about the many women who transformed constitutional history including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul, and Ida B. Wells while getting an up-close look at ephemera from the movement and other rare artifacts.

The First Amendment Exhibit Tour

The First Amendment ensures some of Americans’ best-known and most dearly cherished rights–religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. Explore this exhibit with one of the Center’s museum educators and see how each of these freedoms has been defined throughout history as well as what they mean to “We the People” today.

Buses may drop off and pick up students at the Independence Transportation Center, adjacent to the National Constitution Center.

Groups bringing bagged lunches can reserve space to eat in our School Lunchroom. Pre-paid boxed lunch or voucher options are available.
