National Constitution Center Accessibility Policy

The Center strives to create an environment where every learner feels included, valued, and inspired to connect with the foundational principles of our nation. Below are ways we make our facilities, exhibits, and programs accessible for all audiences.

Building Accessibility

All National Constitution Center entrances and public spaces are accessible to wheelchair users. Elevators are located throughout the building.

Parking 
Designated spaces are available in the National Constitution Center parking garage for visitors with disabilities. The garage entrance is located on Race Street between 5th and 6th Streets. Fees apply. 

Wheelchairs 
Wheelchairs for use within the Center are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis at the Box Office. 

Restrooms 
Accessible restrooms are located on the first floor behind the main staircase and on the second floor in the F.M. Kirby Auditorium lobby. Single/family/gender neutral restrooms are also available on the first floor.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome in the building.

Sensory Tools

Sensory tools, including noise-canceling headphones and calm down items, are available for use during visits at the Center. Please contact Kristina Marinello, senior director of museum experience, at 215-409-6678 or [email protected] to reserve these items.

Personal Care Attendants

Personal Care Attendants of visitors with disabilities are admitted to the National Constitution Center free of charge. This applies to all ticketed events, programs, and performances the visitor is attending.

Visitors who wish to purchase advance tickets should contact 215-409-6700 to request complimentary tickets for an accompanying Personal Care Attendant. For visitors in groups of 15 or more, please call 215-409-6800 or email [email protected].

For Individuals Who Are Blind or Have Low Vision

  • Large print scripts are available for use during performances of Freedom Rising. Please notify the admissions desk when you arrive for a copy. Supplies are limited.  
  • Individual handheld captioning devices are available to provide audio descriptions of Freedom Rising. Please notify the admissions desk when you arrive to secure a device. Supplies are limited. 

For Individuals Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

  • Assistive listening systems are available for the Center’s public programs and Freedom Rising free of charge. Advance notice is not required. Please notify an usher when you arrive to secure a device. Supplies are limited. 
  • Opened captioning or printed scripts are provided for a majority of the videos, audio soundtracks, and interactive displays throughout the Center’s exhibits. 
  • Individual handheld captioning devices are available to provide captioning of Freedom Rising. Please notify the admissions desk when you arrive to secure a device. Supplies are limited. 
  • The National Constitution Center provides sign language interpretation free of charge for visitors to the museum. Print materials can also be provided in advance for interpreters accompanying individuals or groups. For individuals, arrangements must be made at least five days in advance of your visit. Visitors with sensory-processing challenges can experience the museum in a secure and comfortable environment that includes modified programming and emotionally safe spaces with sensory objects, comfortable seating, and cool blue lighting. Admission to the Center is free from 9-10 a.m. during Sensory-Friendly Days.

In partnership with Philly Touch Tours, the Center provides tactile, guided experiences that allow blind and low-vision visitors to experience Signers’ Hall, one of the museum’s most iconic exhibits, and fully engage with the constitutional story for America’s 250th anniversary and beyond. ACCESS Pass

The National Constitution Center is a proud partner with the ACCESS Admission Program through Art-Reach. The program provides $2 admission to over 80 cultural sites throughout Greater Philadelphia and Delaware for individuals receiving public assistance for food or medical benefits.
