Be a Civic Hero! Playful Learning Installation
Coming July 2026
The National Constitution Center is proud to partner with Playful Learning Landscapes, a national initiative that transforms everyday public spaces into opportunities for learning, exploration, and connection.
Coming in July 2026 as part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration, the Be a Civic Hero! installation invites families to explore the ideas and civic values that help communities thrive. Located on the Center’s front lawn, the interactive experience is designed for young children and caregivers to learn together and discover their civic strengths, create their own civic heroes inspired by figures from the American Revolution, match constitutional principles to everyday life, share history and constitution themed children’s books through a new community lending library, and explore the historic landmarks of Independence Mall. The installation will be free and open to the public.
Through play, storytelling, and shared discovery, Be a Civic Hero! helps families turn curiosity into conversation and learning into connection. The experience invites children and caregivers to explore the civic values that help communities thrive and to discover how everyday acts of participation, service, and citizenship can make a meaningful difference in the world around them.
