Our Story Continues NCC 250

PHILADELPHIA - May 27, 2026. On Saturday, June 13, the National Constitution Center will transform into Civic Quest—an immersive museum-wide adventure inspired by the Center’s popular play-based learning experience for families that is currently being distributed for free to 20,000 families nationwide. This one-day event at the Center is free for families.

Throughout the day, participating families will work together to solve eight hands-on missions across the museum, uncovering the people, ideas, and moments that shaped the nation while exploring their own role in the American story.

Civic Quest Family Day is about helping families see themselves as part of the American story,” said Vince Stango, interim president and CEO of the National Constitution Center. “As the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we want families to experience history in a way that feels meaningful, collaborative, and relevant to their lives today. We hope they leave feeling more connected to our history, to one another, and to the role they play in civic life.”

Developed in partnership with venture studio Co-Created, both the Civic Quest family learning game and the museum-wide Family Day activation invite families to step directly into the debates and decision-making that shaped the American experiment. Across eight interactive missions throughout the museum, families uncover the stories behind colonial protests like the Stamp Act and the Boston Tea Party, navigate the fragile alliances that sustained the Revolution, and explore the spirited debates that led to the Constitutional Convention and the creation of a new government. Along the way, participants will examine artifacts, crack clues, solve puzzles, meet historical reenactors from the Founding era, create colonial-inspired crafts, and enjoy special story times designed for younger learners.

Fifteen participating families on site will be selected to receive a Civic Quest game box to take home, extending the experience beyond their visit to the Center and encouraging continued curiosity, collaboration, and civic discovery together.

This event is designed to spark curiosity and connection across generations, encouraging families to ask questions, wrestle with ideas, and discover their place in the ongoing American story. By learning together through play, conversation, and shared discovery, participants build habits of civic curiosity, confidence, and engagement that help sustain our constitutional democracy for generations to come.

“We want families to experience the excitement of becoming civic explorers together,” said Julie Silverbrook, chief content and learning officer at the National Constitution Center. “At its heart, Civic Quest invites families to experience the story of America’s founding through active exploration and shared discovery. We hope the experience sparks not only joy and curiosity in the moment, but also a deeper and more durable connection to our nation’s history and founding ideals that continues around dinner tables, in classrooms, and through future conversations and learning together. We are thrilled to welcome families to join us for this special day of civic discovery at America’s constitutional home.”

Civic Quest Family Day is part of the National Constitution Center’s programming commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and reflects the Center’s mission as a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of the Constitution among the American people. In collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University Institute for Education Policy, the Center is also conducting a nine-month study examining the impact of the Civic Quest experience on children aged 7-12 and their families.

The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Families are invited to explore the experience at their own pace and can choose to participate in as many or as few missions as they’d like, with the full Civic Quest experience taking approximately 1–2 hours to complete. Access to the Center’s exhibits, including the new America’s Founding and Governing the Nation galleries will also be available.

This event is free. Advanced tickets are recommended, though walk-in visitors are welcome.
