NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER TO INCREASE LIVE ONLINE EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS AND CONVERSATIONS WITH JEFFREY ROSEN AND OTHER CONSTITUTIONAL EXPERTS

Philadelphia, PA (March 19, 2020) – The National Constitution Center today announced increased offerings to support students and citizens with virtual learning resources including live lectures and conversations with constitutional experts.

“As students are learning remotely during the COVID-19 crisis, all of us at the National Constitution Center are working hard to support and engage learners across the country to educate themselves about the U.S. Constitution,” said National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen.

Starting with sessions Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, the National Constitution Center is launching a free eight-week series of daily live interactive courses on the Constitution for middle school, high school, and college students. President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen, a renowned law professor and constitutional expert, will lead the courses along with the National Constitution Center’s Kerry Sautner, chief learning officer, and Tom Donnelly and Nicholas Mosvick, senior fellows in constitutional studies. These daily interactive sessions, offered at noon for middle school students and at 1 p.m. for high school and college students, will allow students to sign up for remote learning via Zoom where they can participate in daily lectures and lively conversations about the basic principles of the U.S. Constitution.

Full details, including weekly schedules and topics, registration details, and information on the program structure, can be found HERE.

The 1 p.m. courses on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays will be available at constitutioncenter.org/live.

Using the nonpartisan Interactive Constitution as a learning platform, the National Constitution Center will offer free classes to learners of all ages and will enlist thought leaders, historians, and judges from all perspectives to offer special lectures on the Constitution during the months ahead.

Teachers are also able to sign their students up for virtual Classroom Exchanges, expanded to go beyond classroom-to-classroom conversations to meet students in remote environments. Teachers who would like to sign up their classes for private remote teaching sessions with scholars can sign up here.

The National Constitution Center will also be expanding its offerings of live public programs for adult learners of all ages about the Constitution over the coming weeks. Updates to virtual town hall programming, accessible from any computer or mobile device, will be posted here.

The Interactive Constitution, which has received over 30 million views since it launched in 2015,

offers extensive primary and secondary sources and a content-rich media library with videos, podcasts, blog posts, and lesson plans, at no cost and available with no login or password required.

The National Constitution Center announced on Friday, March 13, that it will temporarily close to the public and postpone all public programs through the end of March. Updates to operations will be available here: constitutioncenter.org/responding-to-coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19.
