Philadelphia, PA — The National Constitution Center on January 9, 2026, announced a leadership transition: After more than 12 years of distinguished service as President and Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey Rosen will transition to the role of CEO Emeritus, enabling him to devote his full time and energy to his scholarship and public dialogue.
Under Rosen’s leadership, the National Constitution Center strengthened its role as a premier national platform for constitutional learning for learners of all ages. He expanded the Center’s impact as America’s Town Hall, advancing innovative tools including the Interactive Constitution and convening thoughtful, balanced conversations on the most pressing constitutional issues of our time. The Center extends its sincere gratitude to Rosen for his vision, service, and lasting contributions to the institution and to civic education nationwide.
The Center’s Board of Trustees has appointed Vince Stango to serve as Interim President and CEO, effective immediately. Stango will build on the strong foundation Rosen established. Over his 26 years at the National Constitution Center, most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Stango has been a close strategic partner to Rosen and the Board, helping guide the institution through a period of significant growth and expansion.
“When I joined the NCC 12 years ago, my goal was to create an American institution that convenes people of different perspectives for civil dialogue and debate and inspires people to learn about our Founding ideals,” said Jeffrey Rosen, CEO Emeritus. “It has been an honor to serve the National Constitution Center and to work alongside such an extraordinary board and staff in advancing this mission. As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, I am proud to pass the baton to Vince and our exceptional leadership team who are fully ready to guide the Center’s next chapter. As CEO Emeritus, I’m looking forward to devoting more time to scholarship, writing, and public engagement around the enduring ideas of the Constitution and the American experiment. This seems like the right time to do that given the exciting programs we have in place for America 250. I’m also looking forward to writing the third book in the Founders’ Trilogy: The Pursuit of Happiness, Liberty, and Union. The Center’s nonpartisan mission to bring constitutional light and learning to people across the country and around the world is as crucial as ever, and I’m confident that the National Constitution Center will continue to inspire people everywhere to explore the ideas, debates and aspirations that continue to shape America,” Rosen said.
“It is my honor to serve as Interim President and CEO of the National Constitution Center,” said Interim President and CEO Vince Stango. “I’m grateful for the trust our Board of Trustees has placed in me, privileged to work with colleagues whose dedication and talents I admire tremendously, and enormously thankful to Jeffrey Rosen for his 12 years of extraordinary service and the legacy he leaves behind.”
As the nation prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary in 2026, the National Constitution Center will continue to expand its exhibitions, educational programs, and national conversations. With its Board of Trustees, leadership, and staff aligned, the Center is well positioned to carry this important work forward in the years ahead.
