NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER CELEBRATES WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH WITH ON-SITE PROGRAMMING, VIRTUAL EVENTS, ONLINE RESOURCES, AND DISCOUNTED ADMISSION

Philadelphia, PA (March 1, 2022) – In honor of Women’s History Month, the National Constitution Center is recognizing extraordinary American women throughout the nation’s history, with discounted museum admission and free admission on Saturday, March 26, courtesy of Wawa, as well as special on-site programming, virtual events, and online educational classes featuring a great lineup of women scholars through the month of March. On-site at the National Constitution Center, visitors can experience the Center’s newest exhibit The 19th Amendment: How Women Won the Vote, engaging programs exploring the stories of key women throughout history, and self-guided tours highlighting unique artifacts and rare documents.
On Saturday, March 26, Wawa and the National Constitution Center are teaming up to offer visitors a free Wawa Community Day Honoring Women’s History Month. Admission to the National Constitution Center will be free courtesy of Wawa, with Wawa Innovation Network (WIN) associate volunteers serving hot beverages, pretzels, pastries, as supplies last, from Wawa’s Community Care Van. The National Constitution Center’s online educational classes in March will explore the civil rights movement, women’s right to vote, slavery in America, and more featuring University of Texas at Austin’s Ashley D. Farmer, Johns Hopkins University’s Martha S. Jones, The New Yorker’s Jill Lepore, and historian Erica Armstrong Dunbar. Learners of all ages can register for classes here or watch live on YouTube.
The National Constitution Center’s Women’s History Month celebration is presented as part of the Center’s series of freedom and equality themed programming and discounted admission between January and March 2022. Civic holiday celebrations and special programs at the Center include discounted admission and free admission days on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, and Wawa Community Days on February 26 for Black History Month programs and March 26 Women’s History Month programs; online classes taught by constitutional experts; virtual tours of the museum; and professional learning opportunities featuring distinguished guest speakers.
National Constitution Center general operating hours are currently Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Now through Thursday, March 31, visitors can enjoy discounted admission of $10 for adults (usually $14.50) and $7.50 for youth ages 6-18 (usually $11). This promotion is valid online only; tickets must be purchased in advance. The National Constitution Center is committed to the health and safety of visitors, staff, and volunteers and is following protocols in accordance with local, state, and federal health guidelines. Masks are required; proof of vaccination is not required. As a GBAC STAR™ accredited facility, the Center is proud to be recognized for cleaning and disinfecting to a higher standard.
