NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER ANNOUNCES THE 2021-2022 SCHEDULE AND TOPICS FOR ITS FREE LIVE CLASS OFFERINGS FOR STUDENTS, TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND GENERAL PUBLIC

Philadelphia, PA (August 23, 2021) – Today, the National Constitution Center announced its live class offerings for the 2021-2022 school year, including a schedule and topics for its Scholar Exchange Constitution 101 classes for students, teachers, parents, and learners of all ages. The National Constitution Center’s live online video offerings connect students of all ages—from elementary and high school to college and lifelong learners—to learn about the history and meaning of the Constitution and how it affects their lives from a nonpartisan perspective. Classes will feature special guests, including constitutional experts, historians, and federal judges.

“To help meet the challenges of the pandemic, the National Constitution Center launched free online Constitution 101 classes last year, which reached over 240,000 students, teachers and parents in every state and over 20 countries,” said National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen. “It’s so meaningful to continue to offer these free classes to learners of all ages across America, fulling the Center’s mission as America’s leading platform of nonpartisan civics education.”

Full details, including weekly schedules and topics, and registration, are available here.

The full year of free live interactive classes will be led by Jeffrey Rosen, the Center’s Chief Learning Officer Kerry Sautner, and other National Constitution Center scholars and special guests. Last year’s special guests included: Justices Neil Gorsuch and Stephen Breyer, professors Akhil Amar and Robert George, and journalists Emily Bazelon and Dahlia Lithwick.

Public classes will be offered Wednesdays and Fridays from September 2021 through May 2022. The classes will support classroom instruction with accessible, standards-aligned topics—including the federalism, Constitution 101, the Constitutional Convention, and founding documents—and timely topics—including national elections, the executive branch, voting rights, and reviews of cases at the Supreme Court. These open-source classes will be publicly available on Zoom for students, teachers, and general public, and are all grounded in the Center’s acclaimed Interactive Constitution, which has received over 45 million views since its launch in 2015.

The National Constitution Center also offers live, guided virtual tours for students and community groups of its various exhibit spaces. Virtual tours provide students the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes experience hearing the personal stories and historic context that bring the Constitution to life. Additionally, teachers can schedule their class to join semi-private exchanges, allowing students to review the materials with scholars in a smaller group for more one-on-one support to improve constitutional understanding.
