Dawn Langan Teele, author of Forging the Franchise: The Political Origins of the Women’s Vote, and Elaine Weiss, author of The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote, provide a stirring history of women’s long journey to suffrage and the important political ideas behind the movement. Lana Ulrich, in-house counsel at the National Constitution Center, moderates.

- Dawn Langan Teele is the Janice and Julian Bers Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. Teele has won several prizes, including the Carrie Chapman Catt Prize for the study of women in politics and the Gabriel Almond Prize from the American Political Science Association. Her research has been published in a variety of outlets in political science, including the American Political Science Review, the Journal of Politics, and Politics & Society. She is editor of Field Experiments and Their Critics, co-editor of Good Reasons to Run: Women and Political Candidacy, and author of Forging the Franchise: The Political Origins of the Women’s Vote
- Elaine Weiss is an award-winning journalist and writer. Her magazine feature writing has been recognized with prizes from the Society of Professional Journalists, and her by-line has appeared in The Atlantic, Harper’s, New York Times, Boston Globe, Philadelphia Inquirer, as well as reports and documentaries for National Public Radio and Voice of America. She has been a frequent correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor. Her books include Fruits of Victory:The Woman’s Land Army in the Great War and The Woman's Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote.
- Lana Ulrich is senior director of content, constitutional fellow, and senior counsel at the National Constitution Center, where she manages the Center's constitutional content and programming, including podcasts, America's Town Hall programs, exhibits, the online Interactive Constitution, and the Constitution Daily blog. She also assists with any legal matters relating to the Center’s operations and directs the Continuing Legal Education program.
