PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 10, 2025) — On Constitution Day, September 17, 2025, the National Constitution Center, America’s leading platform for nonpartisan constitutional education, will launch a bold new phase in its work with the debut of two centerpiece digital resources: the Interactive Declaration of Independence and the America at 250 Civic Toolkit.
These free digital resources anchor the Center’s nationwide strategy to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026 and inspire renewed curiosity about the founding principles that continue to shape American democracy. The Interactive Declaration of Independence and America at 250 Civic Toolkit are now available at constitutioncenter.org and are licensable at no cost to historic sites, museums, national parks, libraries, civic organizations, and educators nationwide.
“It’s so exciting to convene great American historians to write about the big ideas of the Declaration and the Constitution for America’s 250th,” said Jeffrey Rosen, president and CEO of the National Constitution Center. “The National Constitution Center’s Interactive Declaration of Independence and America at 250 Civic Toolkit highlight the debates and ideals that have defined America from the founding to today. These resources are the foundation of the Center’s Our Story Continues campaign to spark curiosity in our founding principles among Americans—inviting reflection and debate not only in 2026, but through the Constitution’s 250th anniversary in 2037 and beyond.”
Interactive Declaration of Independence
A powerful new companion to the Interactive Constitution, the Interactive Declaration of Independence features:
- Full text of the Declaration annotated by Akhil Reed Amar, with audio and printable versions.
- Video and written biographies of all 56 Declaration signers and 39 Constitution signers, authored by Carol Berkin.
- Essays from leading scholars across the ideological spectrum—Danielle Allen, David Armitage, Mary Sarah Bilder, Lindsay Chervinsky, Robert George, Jane Kamensky, Yuval Levin, Jeffrey Rosen, Eric Slauter, Jeffrey Sutton, Gordon Wood, Rosemarie Zagarri—offering fresh perspectives on the struggle for freedom and the ideals later enshrined in the Constitution.
America at 250 Civic Toolkit
A dedicated space on the National Constitution Center’s website, the America at 250 Civic Toolkit brings to life the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and enduring principles that define America for the nation’s 250th and beyond. It features an introductory video from U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justices Neil M. Gorsuch and Stephen G. Breyer, Ret., honorary co-chairs of the National Constitution Center, the Interactive Declaration of Independence, America at 250 multimedia content, events, and continuously updated resources for classrooms, communities, and homes, as well as an updated version of the Interactive Constitution, which has received 100M views since launching in 2015.
