William A. Slaughter

Bill Slaughter is the General Counsel of Ballard Spahr and a member of the Executive Team of the firm’s Management Committee. He was formerly the Chair of the Litigation Department. In addition to serving as General Counsel, Mr. Slaughter manages an insolvency practice involving financially troubled companies in telecommunications, real estate development and syndication, health care, insurance, and manufacturing, and companies burdened with the defense of mass tort litigation. He represents banks and other financial institutions, bondholders and bond indenture trustees, creditors’ committees, shareholder groups, acquirers of troubled companies or their assets, and corporate debtors engaged in a wide variety of business and investment activities.

Mr. Slaughter also maintains a commercial litigation practice, concentrating on the defense of public companies in securities litigation, the defense of banks and other financial institutions in lender liability cases, professional malpractice litigation, insurance coverage litigation, and ERISA litigation.

Mr. Slaughter serves on the boards of the National Constitution Center, the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation, and The Wistar Institute.
