Join the National Constitution Center as we celebrate the opening of Be A Civic Hero!, a new outdoor play experience created in partnership with Playful Learning Landscapes. Designed especially for young children and their caregivers, the experience invites families to discover their civic strengths, create their own civic heroes, connect constitutional principles to everyday life, explore history-themed books through a community lending library, and discover the historic landmarks of Independence Mall.

Celebrate the launch with child-friendly activities both inside and outside the museum.

Be a Civic Hero! Family Celebration activities are free and open to all. To explore the National Constitution Center’s exhibits, including Signers’ Hall and the Freedom Rising live performance, a museum ticket is required.

Explore Be a Civic Hero!

Throughout the day, families are invited to experience the new installation, including discovering their civic strengths, creating their own civic hero, matching constitutional ideas to everyday life, exploring Independence Mall through playful activities, and browsing books in our new community lending library.

We can’t wait to welcome our littlest learners as we celebrate a new place to play, learn, and discover what it means to be a civic hero. Together, we’ll explore how everyday acts of kindness, curiosity, teamwork, and participation help build stronger communities.

Story Time on the Lawn

Gather on the front lawn for a special outdoor story hour featuring a children’s author whose work is included in our community Little Free Library. Through stories celebrating kindness, courage, community, and civic life, families will discover how books can inspire us to become everyday civic heroes.

Civic Hero Crafts

Design your own superhero inspired gear, create and collect civic hero trading cards, and enjoy hands on activities inspired by the civic superpowers we can all use to make a difference in our communities.

Play Together

Head outside for lawn games designed for the whole family. Cooperative games and playful challenges encourage teamwork, communication, and joyful moments.
