SENSORY-FRIENDLY SUNDAYS BEGIN AT THE NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER IN 2019
Philadelphia, PA (January 2, 2019) – Today, the National Constitution Center announced plans to offer a more accessible museum experience for individuals of all abilities and their families on multiple dates throughout 2019. Sensory-Friendly Sundays at the Center will incorporate a variety of programs and learning techniques developed for visitors with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorders, intellectual disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental disabilities into the everyday visitor experience.
Sensory-Friendly Sundays will provide visitors with sensory processing challenges the opportunity to experience the museum in a secure and comfortable environment by providing emotionally safe spaces for families, modified programming for diverse sensory needs, and specialized staff training. The National Constitution Center will also develop free pre-visit guides as a resource for visitors to access in advance of their trip to the Center.

Sensory-Friendly Sunday dates for 2019 include March 24, June 23, August 25, and December 8. Dates for 2019 have been selected in conjunction with Visit Philadelphia with consideration for other sensory-friendly programming in Philadelphia.
The National Constitution Center is committed to making its facilities, exhibits, programs, and resources accessible for all audiences. In addition to Sensory-Friendly Sundays, the Center offers assistive listening systems, sign language interpretation, large print scripts and braille, wheelchair accessibility, and other adaptions and modifications. Ticket Information
General Admission: Adults $14.50; Youth (6-18) $11; Students w/ID and Seniors $13. Members, active military personnel, children ages 5 and under, and personal care attendants of visitors with disabilities are free. Admission for 15 or more is $7.50 for student and youth groups; $9 for adult and senior groups.
The National Constitution Center is located at 525 Arch Street on Philadelphia’s Independence Mall. The Center is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
