Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos discusses the significance of celebrating Constitution Day and the importance of free speech on college campuses. She also discusses the importance of civic education, the relevance of our founding document today, and her role as a member of the president’s cabinet. Jeffrey Rosen, president and CEO of the National Constitution Center, moderates the discussion.

Participants

  • Betsy DeVos serves as the 11th U.S. Secretary of Education. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on February 7, 2017 after being nominated by President Donald J. Trump. Prior to her appointment, Secretary DeVos had been involved in education policy for nearly three decades.
     
  • Jeffrey Rosen is the president and CEO of the National Constitution Center, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to educating the public about the U.S. Constitution. Rosen is also professor of law at The George Washington University Law School and a contributing editor of The Atlantic.
