Richard Stengel, journalist, former Under Secretary of State, and former head of the National Constitution Center, provides an insider account of his time at the highest levels of government in the fight against the global rise of disinformation as described in his book, Information Wars: How We Lost the Global Battle Against Disinformation and What We Can Do About It. Jeffrey Rosen, president and CEO of the National Constitution Center, moderates.
Richard Stengel is the longest serving Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs in American history (2013-2016). While at the State Department, he helped modernize State's communications and led the Department's counter-disinformation efforts. In addition to his work at State, Stengel has also served as Time magazine's sixteenth managing editor (2006-2013) and as the CEO of the National Constitution Center (2004-2006). Stengel currently serves as a political anaylst for NBC and MSNBC.
