During this session, participants will explore constitutional debates surrounding freedom of the press under the First Amendment. Constitutional scholar Christina Koningisor of UC Law San Francisco will examine competing arguments about the press’s role in keeping the public informed through access to information. Serene Williams, from the NCC Teacher Facilitator Network, will share classroom-ready resources and strategies for helping students analyze primary sources, evaluate constitutional arguments, and understand the importance of a free press in American democracy.
