The Center for Civic Education and National Constitution Center are excited to officially launch the Teaching 250 lessons! In this session, you’ll hear from the educators behind the inquiries, explore how the lessons can be used in your classroom, and learn how these resources support instruction leading up to America’s 250th anniversary and beyond.
Teaching250 is part of a national effort to support teachers in preparing students for informed, thoughtful participation in our constitutional democracy.
Teaching250 is a national curriculum development initiative that brings teachers together to collaboratively create inquiry-based lessons aligned to America’s 250th anniversary. The project supports educators in deepening students’ understanding of the nation’s founding principles, constitutional democracy, and civic character through primary sources and thoughtful historical inquiry. Teaching250 centers teachers as curriculum designers, providing time, structure, and expert support to create classroom-ready lessons for use nationwide.
Teaching250 is made possible through collaboration with organizations from the Civics Renewal Network (CRN), a nationwide alliance of leading civic education organizations dedicated to strengthening constitutional knowledge and civic understanding. As part of the project, teachers from across the country will gather February 6 - 8, 2026, at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for an in-person convening. During the convening, educators will work alongside CRN partners to explore primary sources, share best practices, and curate original instructional materials designed to support meaningful civics instruction in diverse classrooms.
