Teachers will gain a deeper understanding of the Center’s educational framework by examining the Fourth Amendment and its application to contemporary questions of privacy, searches, and government authority. Beginning with historical foundations through storytelling, teachers will explore the origins and development of Fourth Amendment protections and engage with an NCC protocol to enhance storytelling in the classroom. Teachers will then apply constitutional thinking skills to help students closely read primary sources, analyze landmark Supreme Court cases, and consider how Fourth Amendment principles apply to modern technologies and everyday life. Finally, teachers will explore how establishing classroom norms can promote civil dialogue around complex questions involving privacy and public safety.

Location: Weber State University

Meals: Breakfast and a boxed lunch will be provided for participants (dietary restrictions will be accommodated).

Stipend: Participating teachers will receive a $100 stipend.
