Join members of the education teams from the Penn Museum and the National Constitution Center for a collaborative professional learning workshop introducing new resources, current scholarship, and inquiry-based teaching strategies that foster meaningful classroom discussions. Participants in this session can expect to:
- Take a guided tour of Penn Museum’s Native North America Gallery, developed in close collaboration with Native American scholars, artists, and community advisers and hear from a curator about the gallery’s development and the stories behind the cultural items on view.
- Explore connections between the collections and themes presented at both the Penn Museum and the National Constitution Center, with practical strategies for bringing these resources into the classroom.
- Learn about the National Constitution Center’s educational framework and the Penn Museum’s new curriculum framework, designed to support inquiry-based learning about Native American histories, cultures, and perspectives through the use of primary sources and cultural items.
Participants will receive a $75 stipend, parking reimbursement, and a copy of the Penn Museum’s Native North America Gallery Educator Resource to support continued learning and engagement in their classrooms. ACT 48 credit will be provided if needed.
