Historical Foundations through Storytelling with Founding Documents

This session will highlight the cornerstone of the National Constitution Center’s educational framework: historical foundations through storytelling. Teachers will engage in discussion about best practices for sharing stories in the classroom, the importance of storytelling, and how stories can help students engage more meaningfully with historical time periods, places, and events. Specifically, we will consider the stories behind several founding documents—such as the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution—to build on these concepts of storytelling by walking through NCC educational protocols to engage students and support teachers.

While this virtual session is open to educators nationwide, preference will be given to teachers from West Virginia, who will receive resources and materials after the session.
