The National Constitution Center is hosting a free, in-person professional learning workshop in partnership with the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia on October 27, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Using the Center’s nonpartisan resources, Educational Framework, and interactive protocols, participants will explore presidential powers in Article II. Participants will also explore museum exhibits relating to these powers, as shared by members of the Carter Presidential Library and Museum education team.
A light breakfast with coffee and lunch will be provided. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated.
Participating teachers will receive a stipend to cover the cost of substitute teachers for their districts.
During this workshop, participants will:
- Explore the National Constitution Center’s classroom-ready resources and civil dialogue protocols.
- Tour the Carter Library’s core presidency exhibits and museum galleries.
- Analyze the scope, historical precedents, and constitutional limits of Article II presidential clemency using primary sources.
- Collaborate with area teachers to build connections between the content shared during the session and authentic classroom application.
- Engage with constitutional questions to help students thoughtfully navigate high-stakes history and civics topics in the classroom.
