Created by the National Constitution Center, The Constitution Happened Here is an interactive online destination that celebrates constitutional and local history in Philadelphia and beyond through student-generated content, including video, audio, text and photographs. No matter where you look, you’ll discover that The Constitution Happened Here!
Produced by the National Constitution Center and piloted at Constitution High School in Philadelphia, The Constitution Happened Here is designed to uncover the vast wealth of history in our local communities. In Philadelphia, for example, the Constitutional Convention took place from May until September 1787 at Independence Hall—but America’s democracy took shape many other places the delegates visited. Just like the Constitution didn’t “happen” in one place, American history was not made in a few important places—it unfolded everywhere around us. The Constitution Happened Here documents the lesser-known yet historically significant individuals, events, institutions, and traditions in our communities that have contributed to the story of “We the People.”
