- Connect with the PBS LearningMedia team and learn how powerful visual storytelling can deepen student engagement and support historical thinking and media literacy skills.
- View curriculum-aligned video clips from The American Revolution—a new film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt premiering on PBS in fall 2025—and discuss how to introduce new ideas and perspectives, ask thought-provoking questions, and challenge your students to share their understanding through a range of extension activities.
- Explore the Center’s exhibition spaces and visit cultural institutions and historic sites around Old City Philadelphia, contemplating meaningful ways to bring those experiences back to the classroom.
- Collaborate with members of the Center’s Education team and teachers from around the country, as you reflect, inquire, and create throughout the week.
Cost: There is no fee to attend the institute, and the Center is able to provide a stipend of up to $1,300 for travel and lodging. There is also an opening meal, closing night meal, and two lunches provided during the course of the week. All other costs are the responsibility of the participant.
