A distinguished panel at the National Archives discusses how the 14th Amendment enshrined the promise of liberty and equality in our Constitution and look at implications for today’s most important issues, including racial discrimination, guns rights, marriage equality, economic liberty, and gender equality.
Panelists at the event held on December 1, 2016 at the Archives included Senator Chris Coons (D-DE); the Honorable James Wynn, Jr., U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; Dana Berliner, Senior Vice President and Litigation Director, Institute for Justice; Shannon Price Minter, Legal Director, National Center for Lesbian Right; Alan Gura, Attorney, Gura PLLC; and Thomas A. Saenz, President and General Counsel, MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund).
The event was moderated by Jeffrey Rosen, President and CEO, National Constitution Center and Elizabeth Wydra, President, Constitutional Accountability Center, and presented by the National Archives in partnership with the National Constitution Center and the Constitutional Accountability Center.
