In Memoriam: George H.W. Bush

Statement of Jeffrey Rosen, President and CEO of the National Constitution Center:

All of us at the National Constitution Center are mourning the passing of an American hero, President George H.W. Bush. We were honored to welcome him to the Center first in 2006 as he accepted the Liberty Medal with President Bill Clinton in a bipartisan celebration of their humanitarian achievements. In January 2007, President Bush began his inspiring service as Chair of the National Constitution Center, which he called his most meaningful post-presidential service. With his shining decency and love of the Constitution that transcended party, he was the heir of the Founding Fathers. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, including his sons Jeb Bush, who also served as our Chair, succeeding Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush and Laura Bush, who received the 2018 Liberty Medal in November.
