Macy's Family Day Honoring our Veterans

In honor of Veterans Day, the National Constitution Center will recognize the dedication and sacrifices of the brave men and women who have answered the Constitution’s call to “provide for the common defense.” Special events include a wreath laying ceremony, patriotic concerts, chats with veterans and engaging civic education programs. At activity stations, guests can write thank you letters to veterans and make patriotic crafts, including star wreaths and poppy pins.  

Admission to the Museum will be FREE on Saturday, November 11, 2017, courtesy of Macy’s.

Flag Raising Ceremony
9:15 a.m.
Front Lawn
Join us as we begin the day with a special flag raising ceremony overlooking Independence Mall.

Thank-a-Vet Postcards
9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Grand Hall Lobby
Take a moment to write letters of thanks to the women and men who have served in the country’s Armed Forces. Postcards can also be accessed online and downloaded by virtual visitors.

Arts and Craft Tables
9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Grand Hall Lobby
Make patriotic crafts, including American flags, star wreaths, and poppy pins.

Flag Folding Challenge
10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Families can participate as members of the museum’s staff fold our 20X30 foot American flag!

Wreath-Laying Ceremony
11 a.m.
Join us as we honor those who have served our country in the Armed Services.  Veterans on staff at the National Constitution Center will lay a wreath under the Center’s iconic American flag, followed by a moment of silence.   

USO Concert
12 p.m.
Joint the USO Show Troupe for a perform a patriotic concert celebrate our Nation’s Veterans.

Veteran Chat: They Were Ours
1 p.m.
Vietnam veteran and Glassboro, NJ native John Campbell will participate in a special Veteran Chat. Campbell is the author of They Were Ours: Gloucester County's Loss in Vietnam, a book that uses wartime letters to tell the story of soldiers from New Jersey.
