Stripes and Stars Festival: Flag Day and Army Birthday 2015
From star-spangled banners to five-star generals, Philadelphia celebrates the shared birthday of two of our country’s greatest institutions—the American flag and the U.S. Army! This year’s Stripes and Stars Festival will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at locations throughout Independence National Historical Park and Historic Philadelphia, including Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, and the National Constitution Center. Events include flag raising ceremonies, a patriotic parade, giant flag folding demonstrations, and a moving naturalization ceremony.order online
Most events are free. The National Constitution Center is offering $5 admission on June 14 courtesy of Macy’s. Admission to the Betsy Ross House is $5 on June 14. Admission to the Christ Church Burial Ground will be free from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Stripes and Stars Community Fair
Independence Mall, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Visit booths staffed by community partners include museums and several veterans organizations. Military vehicles, including a World War II Era Jeep, will be on display!
Macy’s Family Day
National Constitution Center, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Enjoy arts and craft activities, educational programs on the history of the flag, musical performances, and tons of patriotic fun in honor of the red, white, and blue!
Betsy Ross House, 10 a.m.to 5 p.m.
Everyone will love meeting Betsy Ross, playing old-time carnival games and touring the birthplace of the American Flag.
Burial Ground Tours
Christ Church Burial Ground, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission: $7 for adults, $3 for children, FREE from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
13-Star Flag Raising
Betsy Ross House, 10 a.m.
Betsy Ross herself raises a 13-star flag in the Betsy Ross House courtyard to kick off the day’s events.
50-Star Flag Raising and Grand Parade
National Constitution Center Front Lawn, 10:30 a.m.
Following a 50-star flag raising, troops—past and present—will join a patriotic parade to Independence Hall.
Stripes and Stars Festival Opening Ceremony
Independence Hall, 11 a.m.
Independence National Historical Park Superintendent Cynthia MacLeod will read the original act that established the flag of the United States, followed by a reading of the Mayor’s Army Birthday Proclamation, remarks by military dignitaries, and a special enlistment ceremony.
After the ceremony, enjoy a spectacular display by Team Fastrax Sky Diving, presented in partnership with the Spirit of Liberty Foundation.
Philadelphia Flag Day Association Naturalization Ceremony and Awards Presentations
Betsy Ross House, 12:30 p.m.
Welcome 13 new Americans in a moving naturalization ceremony, hosted by the Philadelphia Flag Day Association.
