Macy’s Family Day Celebrating the American Flag

From star-spangled banners to five-star generals, Philadelphia celebrates the shared birthday of two of our country’s greatest institutions—the American flag and the U.S. Army!  This patriotic, fun-filled day will include special ceremonies, parades, musical performances, military demonstrations, and much more.  The National Constitution Center will take part in the Festival, hosting a brand new exhibit on the history of the American Flag, as well as educational workshops and family friendly activities!

Programs and Events at the National Constitution Center

Family Fun Activities
Grand Hall Lobby, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Step back in time and play 18th century games!  Families can also create fun craft projects at special activity tables and hear tales of the American Revolution at our story corner.

Flag Raising Ceremony and Grand Parade
Front Lawn, 10:30 a.m.
Following a 50-star flag raising, troops—past and present—will join a patriotic parade to Independence Hall.
