Smart conversation from the National Constitution Center

If you could interview five congressmen, what would you ask?

February 18, 2011 by Dom Giordano

Events like this Congressional Town Hall meeting are important because in the interaction with five congressmen we gain insight as to where they agree or disagree. We get a sense of those who are detailed and those that are too vague on the issues.

I'll be trying to get them on the record for future discussions to see if they've executed what they articulate on Monday. I will probe the issue of budget cuts, civility in Congress and what debates they see coming up in the near term.

I want to also probe the issue of bankruptcy facing many states and the public employee issues in the news. I will be looking for the flow of conversation to take me and the audience to unexpected areas that may give us insight. I'll also be looking for areas in which all five agree or at least can articulate compromises that can be achieved.
