WPA Poster Contest
November 5 – December 18, 2009
In conjunction with the Center’s latest special exhibition, Posters for the People, the Center is asking artists of all ages to contribute to the WPA ’09 Poster Contest. Adults and children (grade levels K – 12) can create a poster about an important and current issue such as the environment, staying healthy and active, voting, and other civic issues. Please see the contest rules below for further details and how to enter the contest.
Contest Rules:
- All entries must be received by Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Along with your entry, please include the participant’s full name, school name (if applicable), grade (if applicable), age, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address. Parents/teachers, please register your children for this contest in order to participate.
- One poster entry per person. Each poster must be 20”x 30” and mounted on poster board, foam board or heavy cardstock. Participants may use any type of media to create the poster artwork; such as, charcoal, crayons, markers, paint, pencils, etc.
- Entries must be sent to or dropped off at the address below by Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.:

- The contest is divided into four participant categories: Elementary School (K-4), Middle School (5-8), High School (9-12), and Adult (18 and older).
- The top three entries of each category will be on display at the National Constitution Center from Monday, December 7 through Monday, December 14. During this period, visitors will submit their votes on the best poster for each category.
- The votes will be counted by National Constitution Center staff to determine the winner of the contest.
- The winners will be announced and notified by the National Constitution Center on Friday, December 18. One poster will be chosen per category.
- Winners of the Elementary, Middle and High School categories each will receive a free class trip (up to 30 students and 3 chaperones) to the National Constitution Center. The winner of the Adult category will receive a membership to the Center. The winning posters will be on display at the National Constitution Center through January 3, 2009.
- All participants must have a signed release form in order to participate in this event. Children under the age of 18 must have the release form signed by their parent or guardian. The release form will be sent by email to each participant. The completed and signed release form must be submitted by Monday, December 7, 2009 and can be sent to Francesca Reynolds by mail or fax at 215.409.6650.
