As part of the National Constitution Center’s Election 08: The Power of We series, Elizabeth Edwards joins us to discuss healthcare in the upcoming presidential election. Known for her passion and advocacy of healthcare issues, Edwards is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress (CAP). In addition to working on healthcare and writing for the Center’s Wonk Room blog, she has recently partnered with Senator Barack Obama to advise him on healthcare reform. Drawing on her knowledge and experiences, from her accomplished legal career to her own battle with cancer to campaigning across the country, Mrs. Edwards will share her own thoughts on healthcare and assess the policies of the presidential candidates.  Jane Eisner, editor of The Forward, moderates.

Elizabeth Edwards is a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and recent visiting fellow at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics. She is the author of the New York Times bestseller, Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers, a memoir of her trials, tragedies and triumphs, and of how various communities celebrated her joys and lent her steady strength and quiet hope in darker times. A graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law, Edwards serves on the board of trustees of the Wade Edwards Foundation, created in memory of her son, and remains active in other charitable efforts.
