Steven Portnoy, now in his third year as a Washington-based radio correspondent for ABC News, Portnoy covers national politics, legal affairs, advances in science and technology and breaking stories for the network. While pursuing his broadcast journalism degree at Syracuse University, he reported for WSYR-AM and produced at WIXT-TV and WSTM-TV in Syracuse. Portnoy then worked as a reporter at Washington’s WMAL-AM before joining ABC News in 2006. Portnoy won first place for radio news at the Hearst National Broadcast News Championship in San Francisco in June 2001. He has since won several local and regional awards and shared in a national Edward R. Murrow award for spot news coverage in 2007.
