Namal Perera is a Sri Lankan journalist with 13 years of experience in both print and electronic media. He is the manager of the Media Freedom and Advocacy division of the Sri Lanka Press Institute. He was the head of the news department of TNL television for more than six years before he became a journalism trainer. He worked at the Centre for Policy Alternatives, an independent think tank, as a researcher on media policy development. Perera works as a freelance defense analyst on Sri Lankan conflict over the years. Currently, he is a Fellow at the University of Maryland.
