Marci Hamilton holds the Paul R. Verkuil Chair in Public Law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she specializes in church/state relations, federalism, and representation. Her most recent work is God vs. The Gavel: Religion and the Rule of Law.
Hamilton is the founding director of Cardozo’s Intellectual Property Law Program and is considered one of the leading commentators on copyright issues as they relate to the First Amendment. She clerked for Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor of the U.S. Supreme Court and Chief Judge Edward R. Becker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Hamilton has visited at New York University School of Law, Emory University School of Law, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Center of Theological Inquiry.
