Grace Githaiga is the Executive Director of EcoNews Africa, a sub-regional NGO dedicated to disseminating information about sustainable development and influencing policy formation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Community Development from Daystar University Kenya, and a master’s in International Studies from the University of Nairobi. She worked for Kenya’s government Ministry of Information, and has been in the non-governmental sector for over five years including doing short term assignments for Article 19 and FEMNET, and consulted for UNESCO and the World Bank. Ms. Githaiga has worked as a print and broadcast journalist in Africa, including the Africa Woman Newspaper, editor for EcoNews Africa Newsletter, and the Community Media News. She has contributed articles to the Wajibu Journal (a journal for communication), and Media and Culture in Kenya. She has been coordinating networks of community media, namely the Kenya Community Media Network and the Community Media Network of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMNESA). She is currently the President of the World Association of Community Broadcasters (AMARC) and a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at the University of Maryland.
