Amaris Elliott-Engel covers the Philadelphia County court system, Montgomery County court system and Philadelphia Bar Association beats for The Legal Intelligencer, Philadelphia's legal newspaper. Amaris covers court cases, county politics, court administration and legal trends. Amaris joined The Legal Intelligencer in August 2007, and previously worked for three years as a police and courts reporter for The Citizen, a daily newspaper in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Amaris also covered an American Indian land claim beat for her prior employer. At The Citizen, Amaris won four first-place New York Associated Press awards. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 2003 with a major in Critical Social Thought.
