Currently, my work reflects themes consisting of life experiences that have had a profound effect on my friends, my family, and myself. War, nostalgia and scenes of suffering are commonly depicted in my paintings. I hope my work can transcend any biased opinions and instead be seen as an alternative way to look at life.
My process of working begins by gathering resources for my concept by using photos from the past or by photographing the subject matter. The current work consists of images taken from one of my three combat tours to Iraq as an infantry Marine from 2003-2005. The images that I use were taken in places like Baghdad, Fallujah and Ramadi, where I was stationed and participated in combat and security patrols.
