One-Day Workshop SAMPLE AGENDA

9:00 AM

Welcome and Introductions

Teachers are introduced to the workshop staff and their colleagues through an activity that helps to begin the session and can be easily and effectively replicated in the classroom.

9:30 AM

Award-winning Freedom Rising Performance

10:00 AM

Teacher Tour of the Center's Exhibitions

An Education team member escorts educators through the Center's exhibitions, highlighting each of the many areas that have been developed into classroom ready resources.

11:00 AM

Teaching with the National Constitution Center

Teachers are introduced to the Center's education philosophy, which is designed to promote active citizenship through a comprehensive framework for civic learning compromised of Civic Knowledge, Public Action and Democratic Deliberation

Infusing Civic Education across the Curriculum

Teachers will participate in an activity to understand how they can easily apply the civic learning framework to their teaching.

12:00 PM

Lunch in Delegates' Cafe

Workshop staff is available to answer questions and help teachers tailor the featured resources to their classroom.

1:00 PM

Theme Related Seminar

Workshop staff will review content related to the theme of the workshop, e.g. teaching with primary source documents, or content such as the framing of the Constitution or the First Amendment etc.

1:45 PM

Featured Lesson Presentation

Teachers will simulate a lesson related to the workshop theme and developed by the Center's Education Team.

2:30 PM

Presentation of Online Resources

Teachers will be exposed to the resources developed by the National Constitution Center and accessible through the Center's website, as well as useful resources from other institutions such as the National Archives.

3:00 PM

Conclusion

Educators leave the Center with arms full of resources and new methods that can be implemented in the very next class.
