Why support civic education?

A recent survey released by the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania found that only a quarter of Americans can name all three branches of government and nearly a third of Americans cannot name a single branch. This crisis in civic education has grave consequences for our democracy. As a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, the National Constitution Center delivers balanced educational programs and online resources that inspire, excite, and engage citizens about the U.S. Constitution.

A convening space for civil debate

Every year, more than 250,000 young people visit the National Constitution Center, and thanks to generous supporters, thousands receive free admission through our Young Citizens Scholarship Program

The Constitution Center’s programs include our online Interactive Constitution that launched last year and has received more than 6 million unique views, the new Interactive Constitution app that has received more than 30,000 downloads since its release in September, and Freedom Rising, the live multimedia production that has inspired more than 8 million visitors from around the world.

There is no better time to become part of our effort to promote civic education. Become a new Member or make a year-end gift in any amount, and your contribution will be matched by the Hamilton Family Foundation. Together, we can increase the awareness and understanding of the greatest vision of human freedom in history, the U.S. Constitution.
