Join us for special educational programs highlighting momentous Presidential Inaugurations throughout American History, and then head to our Story of We the People Exhibit where you can take the oath yourself!
Hail to the Chief Quiz Game
9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Story of We the People Exhibit
Visitors can learn about the role of the president and the history of the executive branch during the Hail to the Chief Quiz Game. Participants will race against the clock to answer questions from a variety of categories, including “Before They Were President,” “Elections and Inaugurations,” and “Presidential Pets.”
9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Grand Hall Lobby
Make and take home great crafts including Washington and Lincoln hats and mini White Houses!
Constitution 101: The Presidency and Article II
10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Grand Hall Overlook
At this interactive show, visitors will learn the ins and outs of the executive branch of government as they try on all the different hats the president wears!
History of Presidential Inaugurations: Museum Tour
11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Story of We the People Exhibit
Step back in time and explore important inaugural moments throughout history. Learn about the precedents George Washington set for his successors, explore the first peaceful transition from one party to another, when John Adams made way for Thomas Jefferson in 1801, and take a look as some of the most famous inaugural speeches in American History, including Lincoln’s speech at his second inauguration.

The National Constitution Center will be airing Inauguration coverage on screens inside the museum. At 12 noon, as stated in the Constitution, visitors can watch as our next president takes the Oath of Office.
