Bill of Rights Day and Bill of Rights Day Book Festival

Visitors can celebrate the anniversary of the Bill of Rights, which gave us many of the rights and freedoms we enjoy today.  Visitors can view a rare, original copy of the historic Bill of Rights and learn about the first ten amendments during a fast-paced, interactive game show called Who wants to be a “Bill-ionaire?  Plus, take a special tour of Signers’ Hall to learn about the history of the Bill of Rights and why it was left out of the original U.S. Constitution.  At activity tables, visitors can create arts-and-crafts and play constitutional matching games!

PLUS: Celebrate Bill of Rights Day online with the Center’s Constitution Hall Pass series! The 20-minute “Bill of Rights” webcast explores the compelling story of our Constitution’s first 10 amendments. Constitutional experts and members of the Center’s education staff also will blog live online throughout the day at constitutioncenter.org/hallpass to offer additional insight. Join in as students take turns reading each of the ten amendments that make up our Constitution’s Bill of Rights.  

Judge Chats: A Closer Look at the Courts

Bank of America Family Theater
Students and teachers can attend one of these great sessions with real judges, where they will have the opportunity to speak with experts on the interpretation of law and about how the Constitution can affect everyday life.

Bill of Rights Day Museum Tours

Meet in Signers’ Hall
Our Education Staff will lead tours through our signature exhibitions, guiding visitors through the history of the Bill of Rights, beginning in Signers’ Hall with the debates at the Constitutional Convention, to The Story of We the People Exhibition and some of the most famous Bill of Rights-related court cases!

Decoding the Document: The Bill of Rights

Visitors can get an up-close look at our rare and treasured copy of the Bill of Rights, and learn more about its fascinating history—like what happened to the original First and Second Amendments!

Preamble Scramble and Amendment Match-Up
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Grand Hall Lobby
At activities tables, kids can make arts and craft projects, and also solve puzzles!  They will race against their friends as they place the segments of the Constitution’s preamble in the correct order, or match up the right freedoms with the correct amendments.

Who wants to be a “Bill-ionaire?”

Main Exhibition
After a fun-filled visit learning about the first ten constitutional amendments, visitors will show off what they’ve learned at our fast-paced Bill of Rights Quiz Show!  

Mystery Amendment Theater
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Grand Hall Lobby
Visitors can take turns acting out scenarios depicting Bill of Rights freedoms, like “Freedom of the Press” or The Right to an Attorney” while their families, friends, and classmates guess which amendment they are referencing!
